Cabolado Beach

After a 2 1/2 hour ride in the car we reached our destination and it was worth it! We took the boogie boards and played hard, Jana caught some good waves and had tons of fun even after she cut her toe open on a rock.
A nice view of the beach. We felt like we were in Portugal because the only other people there besides us were portuguese people!

Gwen riding a wave mostly pushed by Daddy! All in all it was a wonderful day and happy to say the sunburns were very minimal just where we missed a few spots with the sunscreen.

Getting out of town

After you have been here awhile you develop a strong urge to go faster then 30 mph. It's odd enough that you can't just get in your car and go when you need to be some where, you have to call and arrange for a car which takes some getting used to. And of course we are not allowed to drive here. The traffic is just so congested that you rarely go very fast for very long. So we planned a beach day on Saturday and it was so nice to leave the city and enjoy the beauties of Angola. The picture above is one of the markets on the edge of town we like to go to. You can buy all kinds of stuff there, let me know if any of you would like the aligator skin! John's getting pretty good at bartering.
It's currently the rainy season so things have greened up a bit. It's a blessing to have the rain but also a curse because in the city most of the roads are not paved and the dirt is like clay and it doesn't absorb so huge puddles are every where and it turns into this black murky looking stuff for mosquitos to congregate.
This reminded me of Bryce Canyon.

The first dance of the year!

This past weekend was the first dance of the year so Jana and her friends came to our house to get ready. They just hung out and ate and talked and laughed and laughed and talked, about 20 minutes before it was time to go they decide to get ready they threw their dresses on and brushed their teeth and they were off.
Don't they look great!
Maren went to a friends house to get ready. She was super excited because it was her first dance!! They started to get ready 2 hours before it was time to go.
Don't they look great too! The girls had a wonderful time because everybody danced! There was no standing around at the dance because Angolans love to dance. They did say it got really hot though.

Sunset in Angola

This was our christmas Card that mom never sent all of them.
The sunset here is absolutely gorgeous! Everynight there is a different sunset, and everyone of them are very beautiful. Although the sunset changes with in every second. So we all try to hurry out for pictures when a perfect sunset comes our way.

The view without us blocking it.

Critters

We found this praying mantis at school one day, and everybody wanted to hold it.
It was pretty and kinda creepy at the same time !

This is a just a little gecko I found in my room, we find these guys all over the place, they're so cute!

This is by far the most disgusting massive cockroach I have ever seen! Gwenie calls them "coch-rokes"

Here's a little crab that we saw when we went to the beach, there were hundreds of them!

People have been asking us to allow comments on the blog, so please give us your vote of the best and worst critters!
